1st Meetings

We’ve had our first couple team meeting for Steubenville and power of the Holy Spirit is fantastic!! We’ve been meeting on Monday evenings at 8:00 for just 45 minutes or so to work our way through the details of our conference weekend and to prepare ourselves spiritually to get the most out of this amazing event. Our teens have decided to keep meeting on Mondays in preparation ... so we will!!

Last night we went over colors for the t-shirt (it was decided we should get green) and much debate was had over the design. Check back at the website for various options on this.

We also spent some time discussing how God’s grace is constantly and abundantly flowing. “Mountain top” events like the Steubenville conference really expand our capacity to receive this grace and it’s really important that we do all that we can to “maintain” that capacity following the event. We talked about how we can use positive peer relationships, prayer, youth and music ministry, and especially the sacraments to help do this. So our goal this year is to “supersize” and be like a sponge!!

Even though we didn’t quite get on-line by 8:00am this morning, we were still able to get registered for all the spots we requested. Actually we logged on at about 8:04 and at that point there wer only 967 spots remaining. I believe each conference has about 2,000 spots which means over 1000 spots were taken in the first 4-5 minutes! So here’s the deal. We currently have 18 of you signed up to go. I believe there are still a few of you who would like to go but haven’t committed yet, and I think God is going to send a few more stragglers my way, so we registered a few extra spots, but these will go quickly. If you’re still thinking about going you need to contact either myself (Mr. Geckle) or Mrs. Schoettmer right away. I’ll be posting dates for our preparatory meetings within the next couple of weeks.

After reviewing the forms that have been submitted, some agonizing and some prayer, we have chosen June 13-15, 2007 as our target Steubenville weekend. So, at 8:00am on January 7th, will be on the computer desperately trying to secure spots for all those who wish to attend. It has been suggested that we also choose a “backup” date so that if we can’t secure enough spots in our preferred weekend, we can attempt to make it into our backup weekend. If for some reason, we can not get a significant number or students into the June 13-15 weekend, our backup date will be June 27-29. When you submit your registration forms, please indicate if you would still be available on June 27-29. Again, I have every reason to believe that if we are on the computer at 8:00am on January 7th, we should be able to get our group registered, but it having a “Plan B” seems to keep Murphy’s Law at bay. As I understand the process, we should know immediately if we have secured our spots, so I will be posting an update to the website immediately to let everyone know the outcome.

ALL REGISTRATION REQUESTS WITH REGISTRATION DEPOSITS ARE DUE IN TO THE PARISH OFFICE BY JANUARY 2.

Meeting scheduled

An informational meeting for parents and teens will be held on Thursday, December 13 at 7:00 in the parish offices. More information about this conference will be provided. Students who have attended will be available to answer questions, and we will try and make a decision on which weekend we will be attending.
Registration opens on January 7th, and this year we need to submit our registration as soon as it opens to try and get slots for everyone who wants to go. We had a waiting list last year and I want to avoid that this year!! So if you can come ... come! and if you can’t send me an e-mail and let me know you’re interested and which weekends work best for you. saintiyouth@mac.com
